A cheeky play-on-words and introduction to Spooky Season, Plant Chat, is a sit-down artist talk and mylar plant-making workshop designed to unite community over collection creation. Much like the planchette used in Ouija Board communication practices, this event creates a moment to come together and merge energies in a single location, harnessing the collective unconscious and creating something fun and magical together.
Participants will have the chance to design, cut, and create their own plant out of mylar, using Austin’s DIY method of sculpture. Created plants can be taken home, shared, or left with the artist to be used in upcoming installation work. During this time, participants are encouraged to view the exhibition, ask questions of the artist and fellow participants, create inferences, and be with others in a space of curiosity and play.
